Pont Frac
On the outskirts of Cotignac (one of the jewel towns of Provence) and nestled amongst its own vineyards is Pont Frac, an 8 bedroomed house providing extensive living space, both inside and out.

For over three decades, Pont Frac has been the French home of an English family with a passion for French design who have added to the original farmhouse to create an impressive property furnished in the classic Provence style. Now under the ownership of the next generation, the house and outside areas have been thoughtfully updated. Filled with finds from many happy years searching brocantes - antique furniture and vintage textiles are mixed with contemporary pieces, lighting and travertine marble or terracotta flooring throughout the house which all combine to give a stylish but homely feel.

The House

Surrounded by seven hectares of vineyards, olive groves and Provençal country side, the oldest part of the house once housed workers from a silk farm; dating back to this time are two ancient mulberry trees whose canopy provides shade to the large marble topped table below, the scene of countless long lunches and dinners.
A large open plan kitchen and lounge area with an open fire place forms the social hub of the house with doors that open straight out onto one of the sun terraces. The marble flooring provides cool in the summer and warmth in the cooler months thanks to under floor heating. Next to the kitchen is a dining room and library room, which leads onto a cosy snug with a fire place. Further living areas are in the recently converted dépendance - where the rustic stone outbuilding has been renovated, juxtaposing the restored stone walls with a poured concrete floor, adjoining this impressive living room is an office, wine cellar and a TV room.
A winding staircase leads from the kitchen living area upstairs to the master bedroom which has stunning views, the en-suite bathroom has a roll top bath and separate shower. In the main house are a further 5 double bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms and all invidually decorated often using vintage linens or classic French fabrics. The family bedroom has a king size bed and joining room with two twin beds, ideal for a family with young children. There is a large attic which has two further bedrooms - the perfect place for children or staff. The beds throughout the house are extremely comfortable with high quality mattresses and fine bed linens. All bedrooms are air-conditioned and have mosquito nets.
